For $15.  The two buttons are push in/push out and they have some friction between the button and the case even after I wipe them down.  Is there a safe light lube I can use on them?  I've got 3 in 1 gun oil, some white grease (not sure what kind), etc.  I am thinking just the lightest coat of something to reduce the friction, but I don't want it to damage the plastic...

I recommend opening the meter up and giving it a thorough cleaning. Usually grime prevents buttons from operating smoothly. I then recommend a very small amount of petroleum jelly (Vasoline) on the rotary dial and buttons. This is what I did to my Fluke 32 and it worked great.

I would not use any petroleum based solvant or lubricant or any silliconed ones,  use teflon lube

The petroleum / sillicon may damage some plastics or render the brittle ...
