Today there was a lightning strike in my street, no more then 100m from my house. The noise was so loud that the crack of the bolt made me wince in pain and left my ears ringing.
At least one bit of networking gear on my home network blew up, I believe it was my Linksys VoIP ATM as it violently let the magic smoke out.
Unfortunately it didn't end there, my nice fully managed 24 port switch has become a 8 port fully managed switch

What are the chances the damage is mainly superficial (I know there are ferrite transformers in there). I pulled the switch down and couldn't smell anything nor see any obvious damage on the PCB. Some ports meter open circuit between the pins, others meter about 1.20 ohm.
