GW Instek 8131H Frequency counter
« on: November 07, 2022, 12:08:13 pm »
My 8131H frequency counter has stopped working. The display is blank but did work a week ago when it just showed 0. The 12V and 5V rails seem to be ok but no voltage can be found on the display circuit board. There is a 10MHz triangle wave at the crystal. I can't find a circuit diagram anywhere. Help!

Since we don't know about how it is built, look for cable or connectors to display.  Trace 5V to display?  Sounds like a connector pin or trace?
Wiggle and check continuity on all connections to display.
Go to https://www.gwinstek.com/en-global/products/detail/GFC-8270H_GFC-8131H and tell support you need a schematics.
You may have to email them many times to get attention and service help?
You might post pictures so folks could think on it!

Keep going, sounds like you found a major problem, lack of power to the display?
Good Luck

open the case and show us photos ...   and take notes of the main ic's in it

i think they are based on intersil  ic's ...   if its the case  there is many schematics on the web for them
