Hakko FX-888D loose iron cord connection
« on: December 22, 2019, 05:01:57 pm »
I like my FX-888D a lot. That out of the way, I'm annoyed at how loose the DIN connection for iron to base has become. It's now at the point of intermittently cutting out, causing the temperature to fluctuate dramatically. I've found one fix that involves retrofitting the base and cord with a locking DIN pair.

This was done on an 888, not an FX-888D, but at least one commenter said he did on his FX-88D. Anyone else tried this or have any different suggestions or a fix? Also, with the mod in the video, I assume this wouldn't affect the ESD protection, correct?
