Hameg HM1507-3 time base encoder?
« on: December 11, 2018, 05:45:57 pm »
Hi,

I have an HM1507-3 that when the time base is adjusted beeps to indicate the limits have been reached and/or jumps around erratically in time base value.

What are your suggestions? Is it sensible to say its almost definitely the encoder? can anyone help me find a replacement if so?

I have another HM1507 that was given to me by my dad as when we turned on the scope with a x10 probe setting it had broken since he last used it. So I have a working HM1507 without the x10 setting but I don't really want to take the encoder from the working scope and risk having no working scopes.

Thanks for any replies

Han

The encoder is a likely culprit for your symptoms, have you tried giving it a spray?
As you have another working scope you could probe the encoder outputs on the defective one and make sure yourself.

I successfully dismantled and cleaned the rotary encoder.(finally ;D) I reassembled the unit it passes self tests but the trace is nowhere to be seen. Although there is a glow at the top of the screen on high intensity settings as there is when the trace has gone off screen. Auto set and vertical position are no help though.

The canned board with the b&cs had to be disconnected and I haven't tried re plugging the ribbons yet.

The cal sticker was right alright. Its definitely void :P

TIA
