Hameg hm8001 low output voltage
« on: August 24, 2022, 10:14:08 am »
On one hameg hm8001 i had a seldom behavior. It was working with 8011-3 and 8040, but not with a function generator 8030-5.

First i thought it is the l200h regulator. So i changed that one. But no success, so after the rapair went the original L200h back inside. After more investigation there was a 50 Ohm resistance in the connection cable beween the power supply board and the backplane. Just gave this some 15 Volts from another supply and the resistance was gone. I think it was in the female connector. They have no solid separation between the contacts and it is the only position where it could be.

Why do old shaffner filters blow? - because there are rifas inside.
Why do rifas blow? Only time shows if the best new thing is really best. Here it is not.

The Edge connector within the Plug in module (say 8030 etc) has links/resistors to tell the L200 within the Chassis, what it should regulate too.

Id check that path on the Plugin module is ok. buzz out the edge connector within the module, they tend to have a bespoke PCB with the gold fingers then a certain routing to loop back.

It could also be that the other modules do not use a particular tap/pins on the Edge connector socket within the chassis, so it would be worth buzzing that out too.
