HANTEK DSO5102P boot up issue
« on: February 09, 2024, 03:52:56 am »
Hello!

When I turn it on, the screen stays black and the buttons on the right side start flashing and it makes a ticking sound when doing so. This just continues until I turn it off. It was working fine, sat in the box for a few months, then when I turned it on recently, this happened.

I emailed Hantek and they asked me to check the input voltage. The 5v and 3.3v. I got 4.7v and 3.3v. I responded to them and still haven’t heard back in over a week. Hopefully someone might have an idea of what this issue could be! Thank you!

Does the voltage on the PSU stay consistent, or does it hiccup? Hantek's assumption was correct. These symptoms indicate a hiccuping PSU.
Hehe, spooked my friends with an exploding electrolytic capacitor the other day 😁.

Yes, this scope definitely has a boot up issue! So far I've been able to cajole it into booting up by repeatedly pulling the mains plug out and putting it back in, but it's now decided to bless me with the HANTEK logo on the screen forever without choosing to actually act like a scope.
There IS a USB input but I don't know if that can be used for anything in the way of boot up. Has this scope been designed with planned obsolescence by the Chinese? I notice a heap of other people hve the sam problem. i don't really want to get into their electronics and redesign them - I'm too busy with other stuff.
Any constructive hints would be appreciated. Can't even use it for a boat anchor - it's too ligh :horse:t.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem,

I just received the 5102p today, brand new, when I unboxed it, I found that the knobs are not working, because I'm in a country where I can not do a return,
I just replaced the faulty knob and it's was working.

The problem I got is I was working with it until it got stuck. and the screen goes black, when I restarted it, I see all the lights turned on but no screen, I suspect the firmware got corrupted, I have no idea how to restaure it or use the reset via USB without the screen.

Any advice would me much appreciated, just lost 250$ for a brand new and waited too long to receive it.  :'(
