According the the service manual for the Marantz UD7007, I have to use software called 5.12.71 (8550+KES470)_1 Dscan.zip .  According the the manual you have to enter the barcode number of the new Blu-ray mechanism before replacing the mechanism.  I can not find the software anywhere.  I tried installing the mechanism and now the UD7007 does not turn on.  I get all the correct voltages but no display and the mechanism does not open or close.  I get nothing thru the HDMI either.  I put the old mechanism back in and it still will not power on.  Before I got HDMI, the display worked and the drawer opened and closed.  The only problem is it would not read any disc.
It appears that the Denon DBT-3313UDCI uses the same mechanism and also instructs to use the same software when replacing the mechanism.  If you purchase the mechanism with the main pcb board then the software is not needed.  It must come with the new barcode already written to the chip.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?  I would appreciate any help.
Thank you.
Chuck

Hi!

Short of somebody filching it out of a Denon or Sony authorised service centre on a stick, this sort of thing is not made available publicly as a rule!

Since (I presume!) this mechanism is also used by Sony, is there somebody who has access to Sony's technical server can get hold of this flash writing tool?

However, it may be possible to read the chip where the mechanism serial number is stored in a programmer, and see if there are characters in the hex dump that can be found that match the barcode label on your faulty mechanism, if so (assuming the thing isn't encrypted or locked), it may be possible to edit the locations with a hex editor to suit the characters/serial number on the label of the new mechanism assembly.

I don't know how people get manuals out of these centres in the first place, but they hardly ever seem to get any of these special software tools that manuals ask for with them!

It's an enigma that's what it is!! This thing's not fixed because it doesn't want to be fixed!!

Thank you for your help.
I'm not sure how connecting the new mechanism would shut down the unit.  I double checked all connections and checked the flex-cables for broken traces and could not find anything.  It still will not turn on with the old mechanism installed.  I did read on a foreign site (Digital Kaos) that someone had the same problem and solved it by replacing the motor controller chip, a Texas Instrument TPIC2050.  Marantz lists this part as a TI2050.  The data sheet (attached) doesn't have the square silver area in the middle of the chip.  I've attached photo of the pcb board showing the original chip and the four pin connector to attach the serial to usb interface to a pc.  I tied to contact the poster on the Digital Kaos site but it's been several years since he posted that comment and I have not received a reply.

What are your thoughts?  I hesitate to replace a 56 pin chip if I don't have to.

Thank you.
