Have an SMIQ? I need pictures of the bottom feet.
« on: August 22, 2019, 04:50:22 am »
I've got an SMIQ03B with no bottom feet and would like to make some 3D printed replacements for it.  I've been able to find some images of them from various angles that I could use as models and the unit itself for hole placement, but I'm not actually sure how they attach to the chassis - I would guess a screw and two pins, but It's difficult to tell how the pins snap or otherwise hold on with just the sheet metal chassis.

This is where you can help: can you take a picture of how the feet attach to the chassis metal on the inside?  Bonus points for any overall measurements of the feet - helps reduce the number of prototypes and better match the originals.

In return, it may take me a week or two, but I'll upload the models to thingiverse so you can print your own replacements.  :-+

A little update, it appears the SME and SMT series generators use the same feet, so if you've got one of those and want to help, that would do nicely!

Gotta do a test print, but I think I've got a good copy of the encoder wheel (uses a 6mm round shaft) in all plastic (original is a split tube with a metal ring for reinforcement).

Links and guys here might be able to help:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/replacement-knobs-feet-and-fittings-for-test-equipment/

I intend to again be a contributor :p

Thanks for the link to the other project - those don't appear to be that similar to the original feet, though I'm sure they do the job.  However, that does help explain the mounting holes on the bottom.

Pictures of the originals (harvested from ebay listings that show the bottom of the unit) are attached.

I designed and printer exactly what you need some time ago, but quickly got into another thing and never shared it with anyone.

Here they are, ready to print:
