SOLVED: Help finding manufacture of power board and schematic
« on: November 01, 2021, 06:36:52 am »
Update: The board was sold under the Centurion CS-6000XL brand/model.  While Mr P.H. probably didn't design the actual circuit the board as far as I can tell is a subpar design and not worth being fixed. This is based upon the number of revision and poor performance this unit is known to have.

I need help in identifying who manufactured this power supply /converter.   The board clearly shows the company name as PH MEDIA INC.  but I can not find any company that matches that description.  Many parts such as the transformers are labeled with PH-XXXXX thus leading me to believe they are rebranded or custom parts. I included pictures.

The board is supposed to be used to convert 120/240 to 12vdc and charge a battery.  It was used to replace a faulty Power converter board from a RV boondocking system.  Without labels and such its hard to tell who actually made it.

The board has the following parts/manufacturers.

c305 xunda 3300yf 25v rk 105c
Q1 A1273- Yk445
Q304 A1273
q303 c1027 yk 103
q301 kia 431a

2SC3320
kia324A
IR 30cpq100 438XE
KIA494A [PWM chip used for inverter]
LM494A [TL494]
LM393

Then 3 transformers PH-1927A2. PH-1927A1 , PH-4950A1
On the high voltage side it uses Su-scon branded caps
And UTX (HQX) Cap

It looks very much like an ATX power supply, with its standby 5V supply (red) and power-on (green).
There're lots of atx designs based on the TL494, your board will be more simple since it has only one output.
In fact, ATX are commonly used to replace these. They're a lot cheaper and use the same voltage.
You only need to check if the red always has 5V, even when the machine is off, meaning it's standby power.
(This would be the purple in the ATX connector).

Also check if the green wire goes meaures close to 0V when the machine is turned on (Power on signal, also green in the ATX).
12V is also yellow in the ATX.

In the worst case, you only need to connect the green to gnd to power on the atx.
You can get a 750W ATX for little as $20...

I was thinking at first that it would be a standard ATX (or switching type) power supply modified slightly.  But it is more likely a switching power supply for an audio amp redesigned for a power supply/charger.

Follow up:

Ok, I think I found the link it is P H, not PH. Anyway, another company associated with P H Media is called Weco Distributors and Weco sells RV power converters.  So in the end P H  stands for Paul Hostetler, who I think passed away in 2015. So calling him up and asking won't help.  So I guess the question is, what WECO unit is this from?

Solved! Help finding manufacture of power board and schematic
« Reply #4 on: November 08, 2021, 09:15:10 am »
Ok this is basically solved.  The unit was a Centurion CS-6000XL power unit.  The company made several versions and this version doesn't look like more of the common version.  I believe power dynamics bought them out or something of the sort.  At this point its probably not worth repairing as it seems it's a outdated and perhaps badly designed in the first place.
