Help identify component (capacitor?)
« on: January 02, 2019, 12:06:05 pm »
I am repairing a 1960s-era IBM Executary 214 dictation machine.  For some reason the DC motor is running backward.  In the picture below you will see a component broken in half attached to the motor.  I would appreciate any help identifying the type and size of the component.  It looks like a ceramic capacitor, but I can't interpret the markings.  Thank you!

Looks like a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor. It is just accross the terminals to suppress noise in a brushed DC motor.

50V is fine, it filters the ripple from the motor current, I have seen many on old tape decks.
