Help identify IC 631 320
« on: September 15, 2017, 01:16:26 pm »
Hi!

Photo taken with mobile phone through the eyepiece of my microscope.  ::) As seen on the picture, there is not much to see other than 631 320 and a circular manufacturer marking I do not recognize.
Anyone out there seen this one?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for reply PA0PBZ!  :-+

Well, I do not think so. Had a look at the data sheet and the package thickness of mine is 3mm and the MCP631 is 1,25mm. I am bit confused when I look at the, at least what I think, manufacturer marking, never seen it before...

No idea what I was thinking btw, because I think I googled soic8 631, not 630.
If I try soic8 631 I see SA630, could it be that? Any idea what it is doing?

Thanks!  :)

The only thing that show up on SA630 is a SPDT switch. This was a hard one, really!  :-DD I have tried everything and do not come even close to any 631 with same package in my searches. One of the teachers at my work came in with a small board, where this IC is located,  inside a green din rail package. As he is teacher at the biathlon school it probably has something to do with a target control. Well, that was what he was talking about, but sadly, he did not have time to tell me more. I sent him an email begging for a photo on the controller as well as a more delightful description of what it really does. I will be back when I know more about this PCB.

HCPL-0631 optocoupler

Looks like a close! It doesn't help when the thread title says 630 though...

Thanks wraper!  :-+

Well, had a look att the data sheet and it matches at least the package thickness for the 631. Have to check the board if it could be a two channel optocoupler, but went home and will do that on Monday when I get back to work. BTW, I took two photos, one of the PCB and one side of the din rail package where there is som text. There are two step down switching regulators - L5972D - on the PCB and one of them has past away and taken two resistors with him/her...  ::)

It's 100% HCPL-0631, you can google it and check pictures.

Oh yes it is!!!  :-+

Thank you so much wraper and of course also PA0PBZ!!   :-+ That was the only component on the board I did not find and the good news is that Farnell got them all in stock. What happened to the controller was that they did not pull the mains plug in time before thunder lightning was to close. Not many dollars for all IC:s, so think I will replace all of them and that is mostly because of the thunder in mind. Price for a complete din rail unit is more than $200, so it is really worth a repair.

Thanks again!  :)
