Help identify thermal switch (thermostat)
« on: October 06, 2022, 07:47:04 am »
I have a thermostatic switch which I need to identify the temperature for but unsure which value to use.

These are the markings on the unit:
 KSE-168C
12A250V~210C RS 2

I need help to ensure I pick the correct cut off temperature 168/210.

It’s a safety mechanism so I’d like some support.
Thanks

The 210C might mean 210 degrees Centigrade? :-//

This was my problem is it 168C or 210C

Personally more inclined to 210 degree C since it’s written following the voltage and amperage

You can match the A logo and then trace the manufacturer and datasheet.
Temperature trip rating is on the collar 210°C.. It has a manual reset pushbutton pin.

"168" is obviously the part number. That's why I highlighted the "B" in "168B".

You can match the A logo and then trace the manufacturer and datasheet.

I found this part with the same logo:

https://www.indiamart.com/proddetail/ramcon-ksd-thermal-cutout-thermostat-20725050833.html

https://5.imimg.com/data5/SELLER/Default/2020/9/SJ/TE/SI/4360251/ksd-thermal-cutout-thermostat.jpeg

It purports to be manufactured by Ramcon, but the logo doesn't appear to be theirs.

Some thermostats have a "CQC" logo, but that's probably a certification mark:

https://www.cqc.com.cn/www/english/aboutcqc/

Edit:

The "A" logo is the certification symbol for TUVRheinland:

Thanks both, much appreciated.

Any chance you guys can help find a 210 degree one rated for 12A. I’ve found many 10A ones available in the UK.

I’m after an automatic reset one, upgrade to no longer require the manual switch

Changing the operation from manual reset to auto-reset changes the safety properties of the appliance.
It's supposed to overheat and trip once, and go to the the repair shop.
If it's regularly overheating, there is something else wrong - airflow etc.

On this occasion I’m modifying it since the encloser has a 20cm gap to where the switch is located (therefore a plastic rod used to push the button which is lost - not that it trips consistently).

I don’t feel comfortable gluing a rod  to the switch to account for the gap only for it to get lost (again)

What is it for?

How much current does the actual load draw? Is it more than 10 amps? You could use a lower current thermostat to control a relay in a pinch.

Honestly, I would not tinker around with stuff commercially used, especially if it is safety related.
Ask the manufacturer for a spare part, pay 20x the Aliexpress price, but feel yourself on the safe side, when insurance claims arise. (Probably not fun, when the commercial oven overheats due to a failing Aliexpress part and burns down a company.)

Only considering to use parts from RS components.

Here are the two I’m looking to order from.

Option 2: is to understand how I can DIY a reset rod To use the existing thermostat

Slight over estimation it is only a 10cm gap the reset rod needs to account for.

However it needs to be non conductive and tolerate at least 250 degree C.

Any thoughts on what to use

Need some help to find a AK395 as advised it’s the original part required to fix the oven as it was intended.

Can’t find it in stock anywhere
