Continuity test vs IC

Hello Folks,
sorry to be a nuissance here - but I finally found a few minutes to work on the TDS754D again.

I had the heroic idea to test some of the soldered contacts of the 71024 RAM ICs using my normal multimeters continuity testing...without thinking.

So now I ask for experience: is this a very bad idea and can I give up the attenuator. Or is it low risk in practice? AFAIK, the 2V should not be much of a problem...

Yes, it's low risk in practice as voltage and current in digital DMM is not enough to turn on a diode junction of transistor but be mindful of static electricity from fingers/body or clothing even feet walking on carpet flooring which can range from hundreds to kilo volts. Unless you are work on pcb boards with anti static mat and ESD handstraps which might restrict free movement if you want to take the precautions
