Help me find this TRIAC controller
« on: June 27, 2022, 12:27:09 pm »
Hi, I have a single phase triac motor controller board with the controller IC that is dead. The problem is that this 14 pin DIP IC is probabily a very old part (i've talked with the very EE that designed and built this board) has no markings. The EE doesn't remember the part number and doesn't have the schematics... so i'm a little bit stuck with the repair.

Any suggestion?

Maybe TDA1185 or TDA1085

Unfortunately nor 1085 nor 1185 suits the circuit. Gate pulse is on PIN2 (like 1185) but in my circuit pin 3 and 5 are used (and in 1185 are not connected). On 1085 pulse output is on pin 13 (which is not connected on my board)

Next (and probably) last one I remember: TCA785 - but apparently it doesn't match your pins, too.

A different (16-pin) Atmel U2010B motor control IC, discussed in this thread https://www.eevblog.com/forum/reviews/2021-craftsman-bench-jointer-cmew020-help-me-reverse-engineerhack-this-please/
The original IC was made by Temic, so I would check their old product lines.
