Help to identify and source part from Mobile Wireless Charger
« on: September 28, 2018, 02:43:55 pm »
Hello,

I am a non-techie beginner in DIY electronics, recently my wireless mobile charger went bad (which is apparently a common problem as I read around) . The charger does only blink blue light when the phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 8) is put on it and I tried several phones from friends as well. The charger came as a part of the Galaxy S7 Value pack and made by AnyMode.

The charger specs are follows :

Here is the disassembled charger.

Upon visual inspection of the PCB, it is apparent that a blue square part (possibly a capcitor) is busted by swelling and overheating and most probably the cause of charger not working as intended. Highlighted in red box.

I am usually fine at soldering tasks and have the basic tools at hand. Can anyone please inform

1.  If the noted cause could be the reason of malfunction,
2. What is this part / part number /part specs .
3. Any online store/link where I can buy the part.

Would try to repair it myself before buying a new one, maybe it will work

Thanks for reading and your expert guidance.

============================================

Ok it is a film capacitor apparently.

https://www.google.com.sa/search?q=film+capacitors+u33k&num=20&safe=strict&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiY_MPRgN7dAhXMTd8KHfPIAMkQ_AUIDigB&biw=1440&bih=709#imgrc=_

Can anyone inform me what is the exact specs of it to be replaced.

Thanks.

Hi Alterego , your blown cap is an Epcos (Brand) 0.33µF 63VDC 40VAC 10%  -  Model (ordering code) B32529C0334K000

A datasheet with all the details is here : https://en.tdk.eu/inf/20/20/db/fc_2009/B32520_529.pdf

I don't know where you are on this planet so i can't tell the best place for you to buy this part .

Thanks for your reply and the technical document. As long as it is the same I just need to replace it I guess.

I can order within US and Canada for delivery to myself. Appreciate if you can guide for a link for ordering from within there.

If the same brand is not available can you also tell about any other brand with the same specs/size which can be substituted for this cap.

Thanks.

Also according to the dimensions for B32529C0334+***  they are 3.0 × 6.5 × 7.3 :

However I understand the dimensions of my fried cap are as

Length ~ 6.5mm

Width ~ 5.5 mm

Height ~ 2.5mm

Interpin space ~5 mm

Please correct me if I have made any mistakes in measuring the dimensions.

Can you suggest the cap with the needed specs which fits the dimensions to be replaced

Tiny variations in size are possible - however the markings on the blown cap say it is this part . This also could be a fake cap from some unknown manufacturer who uses epcos markings . This could also explain why it died . On the other hand i read the ruler in your pictures more like 7 x 6 x 2,5 mm .
To get the precise dimensions on a part you should use a caliper .

And before you pick a spare part you have to find out how much space there is for the new one . Can it actually be bigger ? How big is that gap in the PCB ?
How much space is there inside the casing around that gap ?

Can a forum member in the U.S. please guide Alterego to a dealer over there ?  I'm located in germany so i don't know where to buy a single tiny 30 cent part in the U.S. Thanks !
