« on: February 27, 2019, 04:00:55 pm »
I have an AC motor, 220v, 1 ph. What if I power it with 220v, 2ph? Any problem?
Its a mixed air blower, what does the SP meanin the specs?
" 260cfm at 1.2in. SP "
Thanks, Alberto.

Alberto, what do you mean by 220 V, 2 phase?

Do you mean 220 V, with a neutral connection as well as the two line connections?

Cheers,

SP means Static Pressure; 2 in. means 2 inches of water column.  In other words when the fan is working in nominal conditions, the outlet pressure can be 2 inches of water pressure higher than the inlet side without overloading the motor.  If you have a long duct on the outlet with some turns, it may give enough flow resistance that the fan motor could be overloaded which isn’t likely if you are just blowing soldering fumes outside.  Restrictions on the inlet, like a partly clogged filter, will generally cause lower motor load as the fan itself is operating in a partial vacuum in such cases.  Of course there are some exceptions.
I’m not familiar with Venezuela electrical systems but if you have 220 volts potential and neither motor lead is referenced to ground, you should be OK if the frequency is suitable and the amperage is available.   You could always try the “dim bulb” test with a fairly high wattage incandescent light wired in series with your motor for testing purposes.  Please be safe

It does have a groun lead, but its connected to the casing ( body ), so I think I'll be ok. I'll try tomorrow, thanks.
