Help with a header connector Please
« on: February 10, 2022, 07:08:14 pm »
Please see this attachment if it doesn't show up in the message.

I can find a 9 pin header at Allied Electronics and bought a number of them.  I then remove every other pin.

The problem is, the holes in the header pins (like in this picture) are about half again larger than the standard header pin opening.

An IC does not plug in the header.  It is used to raise a battery connector about 3.5-4mm off the PCB.

It looks just like regular header otherwise.

Are you looking for something like this except having a pin pitch of 0.2" instead of the 0.1" in your picture?
These accept a standard square header pin.

These, shown above, can be had at Mouser (having 0.1" pitch):

I don't know of ones with a 0.2" pitch.

Machined headers are available in a variety of different pin sizes (for both male and female ends) and you have to choose the right one for your application. You cannot just assume it’ll be correct, as you’ve discovered. Take a look at the Mill-Max or Preci-Dip catalogs to get an idea of what’s available.
