Title: Help with Benq MP720p repair.
Post by: ghorizo on February 10, 2020, 04:11:03 pm
Hello! Taking another stab at trying to fix this projector on which I already replaced a couple of capacitors a while back.
Now the unit powers on but will only display black and white pixelated "static". It changes patterns a bit every reboot.

Anyone have any idea what could be the cause of the problem?

Looks like you need to obtain and install a new mirror chip (DLP chip). This one is gone forever, probably due to overheating.
Disassemble until you uncover the chip - the failure should be visible.
Is the repair worth it? Not sure about that...

Sorry to question you but aren't DLP chip failures static? The pattern here is changing more or less every reboot.
The OSD menu is not working and neither any settings.
