Help with locating replacement binding posts?
« on: May 06, 2015, 04:04:45 pm »
I need to replace a pair of front binding posts in a Topward 6603 PSU.

The originals are very long and i've not found a suitable replacement yet. Anyone know who makes these and where to buy replacements?

Topward will sell me a pair but they have a transaction charge for orders under $5,000 that kind of makes the purchase silly.

If it were me, I would get some brass rod the diameter of the mid section of the stud, cut to length, ,then thread them to the same diameter, pitch, and length as the originals. Thread a nut down to the bottom of the shorter threaded section, and solder in place from the inside. You can make the reduced size portion on the end by chucking in a drill press and while spinning, use a hand file to reduce the diameter. You can also reduce the diameter of the soldered on nut the same way. Factory is better, but the home made path works well too. Drilling the cross hole is easy in a drill press too.

I'm hoping that someone reading will know who makes these, but making something to fit is certainly an option.

It maybe the only option if no one knows who the manufacturer is.
