Hioki dmm lcd failing

Would someone wise tell me if this is due to polarizer? I would peel it off and/or replace it,  if so. Thanks too.

Why/how it occurs I don‘t know. I just know same phenomenon in Sanwa CD800 digital meter after using 13 years.  I let it retire.

you need to change polarizer and may be both.

first remove the top one and just look at the lcd through new polarizer.

if the spot is visible, you need to replace the bottom one as well
