Agilent MSO-X 2012A Battery change
« on: January 15, 2016, 12:05:26 am »
Hi,
I have this oscilloscope and I've just found that with every powering up the time is always the same (22nd October 2015, 8:43 pm). I saw EEVblog #144 where I can see (probably CR2032) backup battery soldered on PCB. Do you also think that the battery is dead ?

Another question: I'm going to replace it with a new one. Do I have to solder some temporary power supply instead of that dead battery to not lossing some data in some memory (like some old HP/Agilent which lost calibration data when battery was disconnected) or it doesn't matter in this case ?

Bought it new? Comes with a 5 yr warranty...

Otherwise, get your meter and measure the battery voltage.

cheers,
george.

I've bought it used. So I measured the battery voltage and it's 3.066 V  :-//

But the time is still the same (22nd October 2015, 8:43 pm) with every turning on. Any thoughts ?

Register on Keysight's web site and register your scope. The warranty should be transferable.

It is repaired. I've disassembled the oscilloscope and found out that the minus pole of the backup battery is loose (probably cold joint).
