How to disable DVD mechanism? (DVD Player)
« on: June 30, 2024, 09:36:46 pm »
I have a DVD player whose mechanism is damaged, i wanted to deactivate it but when i disconnect the cable ([tr in][tr out][GND][LOAD+][LOAD-]) the device does not stay in standby, it turns on by itself to try to detect the disk.
Does anyone know if it's possible to disable it?

Perhaps it is triying to close the tray, but disconnecting the cable you have disconnected the switch that detects the position of the tray.
What is the original problem with the mechanism?
Often the belts have degenerated with time, slip, and the mechanism cannot reach the correct position, so the microcontroller try for long time until it gives up.
You can try cleaning the belts, and try to aid the mechanism when it is closing, to see if it reaches the correct position.
Another trick, if the belts are too rigid, is to boil them some minutes, sometimes this soften the rubber and the belts grip better, is not a good solution, the good one is to change the belts, but tuis trick can serve you to see if they are the problem.

Exactly. The device restarts to try to close the tray.
I solved the problem by grounding the TR OUT pin.
thanks!! :D
