My regularly used HP 89411A DSA (rebadged 89410A) refused to start up today.
It is stuck on the bootup screen with all keyboard indicator lights off and no response to keypresses. HP-IB connection is dead too.
Restarting with "Return" pressed does not seem to make any difference.
Last time it powered up and worked just a few days ago fine.
Any idea what the next startup step would have been for a happy unit? Anybody had a similar issue?

Replaced coin cell battery and got a bit further. It locks up straight after bootup - seemingly with a critical MCU exception.
PSU voltages are fine. All PCBs were reseated. Firmware re-installed too.
Any suggestions?

I don't have one of those, but I did research them once.
Do you have the 89410-90103 Service Guide:

It looks like that error is referenced on page 1-8, with debugging information starting on page 1-10.

I seem to have revived it by erasing its NVRAM.
Hold [ . ] and [ 0 ] pressed while simultaneously cycling the power. It's not in the service manual so was a pretty lucky guess.

No, are they any better than the latest?

I doubt it. I'm just trying to bring to life an older unit that needs an older firmware release. I guess I'll have to get in touch with HP to see if they will dig out the appropriate version for me.
