« on: April 30, 2017, 12:44:58 am »
Nv ran shows good but channel 2 is failed in all calibrations a/d fails d/a fails and analog trigger has a 1991 nv ram so I'm going to try since I have machined sockets and 1230y -100 has a1230y-120 so it should work any ideas I do nv ram test and it comes out good

... since I have machined sockets ...

You mean the scope already has sockets or you have machined sockets you want to install?

I restored an HP 54501 (I have a thread on it in the forum HP 54501 ) and put in a socket for the NVram. It was a bugger getting the soldered-in chip out.

I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

I wouldn't use machine pin sockets for NVSRAMs the pins are very thin and prone to bending as it is. The lower insertion force of dual wipes is safer for the pins.

The NVRAMS work perfectly in sockets, just be carefull.
What exactly does the scope do? Is channel 2 working at all? If not, try swapping the input attenuators, or reseating/cleaning the A/D hybrids.
Trying is the first step towards failure
