Two of the binding posts on my E3630A are cracked. I'd like to replace them with new ones if possible.

Does anyone know a source of these?

They are these ones (not the broken ones depicted):

Search for:
(hp, hewlett packard) binding post

or other variations on ebay.

Have done that. There is nothing in the UK.

Also the Keysight parts store is US only apparently. They quote for GBP but I have no idea how to actually order something.

Parts are:

E3631-20013 (x1) - green binding post - quoted £10.09 ex each
E3631-20011 (x2) - red binding post - quoted £8.85 ex each

Ignore this. Found a human at Keysight who knows how it works.

These are the nearest look-a-likes that I could find in the UK. Very similar style but quality is a bit meh!

Yeah I actually looked at them to start with. You can see the moulding flash on the promotional image which is a bad sign :(

It's £27 + delivery + VAT for some keysight ones or £5 + delivery for some Rapid ones though. It's hard  :scared:

The keysight ones are clearly not that great but they are better than the cheap ones if you look after them properly and will definitely fit in the hole.

Then again a Pizza Hut is £40 these days for my family so  :-//

What do you think about those:

They look very similar...

Those are absolutely spot on identical! Good find thank you. Will order some of them not at Keysight prices and some spare ones :)

Thanks again.

Those nice posts have nickel-plated contact surfaces.  Do the original -hp- posts have gold?

No the HP ones on it are plain nickel plated as well. I'm 100% convinced they are the same part from the same supplier. Keysight just buy up a ton of them and then mug you.

Ok received this morning. TME are pretty good. That's the first order that I have done through them and it was very smooth.

Binding posts are pretty much exactly the same as the Agilent ones with the following differences:

1. They are a slightly lighter grey.
2. They are ever so slightly larger so I had to run round the inside of the front panel with a deburring tool to get them in.
3. Plastic is matte rather than gloss.
4. Main retaining nuts are metal instead of plastic.

On this basis I decided to replace them all for consistency. Took about an hour in total and required a 4mm bit on my 55W Weller iron. Don't attempt this with anything less!

I did notice inside that HP didn't install the shaft retaining nuts on the original binding posts which is what eventually lead to their destruction as the main shafts pulled through on two of them. Naughty naughty HP. Boo hiss.

Anyway, all sorted and looking good as new. Thanks again to 2N3055 :)

The Agilent branded versions of those supplies use lighter grey coloring than the HP ones, so I would not be surprised if the replacement posts are an even better color match to the Agilent version. Still, it must be satisfying to have replacements that retain the original HP style.

These look good - definitely a very close match to the Agilent/HP binding posts.   Does anybody know a source for these in USA?

I had a look around. TME should ship to US though.

Very satisfied with the posts. I wasn't expecting an exact match but I couldn't face stuffing some lurid full colour Pomona ones on it :)

Do they have holes in the shafts for connecting bare wires?

Old thread, but applicable.

Does anyone have a source for a red and a black one of these binding posts?  I can no longer find any and have a busted set on a power supply.  The "look-alike s" on ebay are non insulated and don't fit.   :-[

Did you find a suitable replacement? Keysight have them (only a few of each) in stock but are USD20-25 each dependent on colour.

Look-alikes are still available on eBay

eBay item number:386817771036

The only problem is they don't have a hole near the base of the thread. You could drill one if that is what you need.
