Title: HP cracked knob and chipped display cover repair/adhesive recommendations
Post by: ChuckDarwin on September 23, 2022, 05:16:30 pm
Back to the "someday" items, two plastic repairs...

- Cracked HP knob--level adj knob, so low torque in both the grub screws and application.  Single full front to back crack, no too bad yet. If the gap was bigger I would probably try JP Weld Plastic Bonder (tan) and put it in a vac bag.  My current thought is to wick in something like Tenax-7R/Same-Stuff from the inside.  Any idea if it will even adhere or be too agressive with the plastic?

- Other plastic repair is a clean edged chip in a HP 5335A display cover, right at the "5335" printing, thus needs to be a clean mating.  Fortunately this is an opaque section of the cover.  A retention clip locks just to the right so I could put some reinforcement behind part of the chip if needed.  Recommended glue for this--maybe watch crystal cement?

maybe pure cyanoacrylate (capillary)
