HP E 2378A DVM

I had this DVM sitting on top of my freezer doing a test on a heated bird bath and my wife opened the door.  Down came the meter and now when measuring resistance it either shows OL or 00.0.  Nothing in between for any resistance value.

Any hints on what could be wrong?  The AC and DC function and continuity audio are correct. I have not tried the current function at this time.
