Hp spectrum analyzer model 8591e
« on: October 30, 2022, 03:54:30 pm »
I bought this HP spectrum analyzer model 8591e few years ago... Wanted to learn how to use it... When I was putting together fm radios... I'm still learning how to use it...
It has a tracking generator and the frequency range of the analizer is 1mhz to 1.8..Ghz
When I try to do the self calibration (frequency and amplitude)... It fails the amplitude test... The message
Cal res band width amplitude fail... Srq110
Does any one knows where is the issue??.. Worked on a unit like this. What stage... Is bad components are bad.... It's a beautiful machine would love to fix it.
Or if one can help with service manual for this model please

Sincerely

I assume you connected the calibrator output to the input with a short and good quality 50Ohm cable.

And it does the calibration fine... And I store it... Etc... Using the same cable... And have few of those cables... Something with the dbm volts measurements is off... On the e model...... But thank you for making an effort..

Here you go:

https://community.keysight.com/s/question/0D52L00005IdqavSAB/little-problems-with-an-hp8591e

Discusses same issue.

I have that model spec/an and use it for FM radio work. Mine also is the 75ohm impedance. Is yours also?

Hello there... Yes and yes indeed..
Has 75 ohm input and 75 ohm tracking generator...
I'm going to head where you told me to io... I find it difficult to believe... That I will get the answer... But you never know... I'll come back and update... Thank you for the effort.
I read that post before by doing search... No solution... They returned the unit to seller...
Second link.. No solution either just speculations...
