HP Z800 RTC stops when powered off [SOLVED]

Start with the system running, and the clock set correctly.   Shutdown/Power off.  Come back later Power on and boot up.  Clock shows same time as when I shut down!!!   :-//

Yes, I have replaced the CR2032 backup battery (the old one measured at 1.66V).

Has anyone seen this before?

I can't see any BIOS setting that would obviously cause this problem.

Suggestions most welcome!!!   I'm about to remove the CR2032 and let it sit for a while.

Ah well, all's well that ends well!  Unplug, remove CMOS battery, press clear CMOS switch, replace battery, plug in again and set up BIOS from defaults seems to have fixed the problem!
