Fluke 189's current leak when turned off

I recently returned home from a 6-month trip, and when I picked up my Fluke 189, it wouldn't turn on. It turns out the batteries were completely drained (1.02V). This surprised me because I had replaced the batteries with new ones before leaving. Therefore, I believe there is a current leakage in its internal circuit even when the device is off. This doesn't usually happen with my other multimeters (I have the 87V and the 179, and I haven't changed their batteries in 2 years). Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any solutions?

189 series have a super capacitor problem,  in some cases it may sink more current,  you have to open the case to check the supercap state and physically see it its rusted or leaking

because this one act as a battery for time related functions / loggings, 
removing it  is not a problem for 90%  of the functions (not time related)

check this first please  ...
