Huntron Tracker 2000 Unit A2 U2 MPU Dump?
« on: March 27, 2017, 01:29:32 pm »
Hi!

The price of these Huntron Tracker 2000 instruments is sky-rocketing thro' the roof on fleabay, and it looks like I might have to make one in instalments from the Service manual if I'm ever to own one of my own which I'd like!!!

Has anyone been able to make a copy of the hex. dump from the 87C750 U2 (Huntron P/N 06-5102) or knows if I can get this device as a spare part anywhere?

It's an enigma that's what it is!! This thing's not fixed because it doesn't want to be fixed!!

Did you ever find anything @Chris56000 ?

I'm pretty sure it would be easier to reprogram the whole thing with an arduino and a small tft display ...
that huntron device is from the last century ...

Most of Hameg analog oscilloscopes have a usefull component tester.
It is the same principle of working than the Huntron Tracker 2000.

My workhorse is an Hameg HM605 and I am mostly repairing power electronics and vintage audio gears.

the huntron has some nice features that are not in the component tester of scopes.
- you can compare two traces on the same display at the same time
- you can adjust the test signal level and frequency (you can test at 200mV to eliminate semiconductors switching)
- on some models you can test up to 64 pins of a circuit at the same time
- you can export the signatures on a connected computer for later examination.
I have an old hameg scope with the component tester, and I want to switch to something better
but I always found the prices of the polar and huntron devices way to expensive for what's is inside.
this should not cost more than $100 to build. why are they selling it $1000 or more ?

ยง100 ? are you kidding ?  :-DD
Perhaps you think that workforce is free in the US and that Huntron was using second hand components.   |O

I don't mean to make and sell it, but to build it myself for my own use.
I don't want to use a crt display
most of the price of the huntron must reside in the patents they have for this kind of devices that prevent anyone to sell identical devices.

Huntron has pushed the principle of the octopus x/y curve tracer very far, but the Hameg component tester is already very useful.
For troubleshooting, I find it essential.
It is not really necessary to have the display of 2 curves, nor to have different frequencies and output levels.

crt display is still a winner for such application as dso is not good for x/y display.

Even the Hameg octopus adapter HZ65 has became hard to find and expensive....
