I*really* want to remove Kester 44 flux - what do I need to buy?

Heated ultrasonic cleaner and some proper flux cleaning solution intended for that purpose works the best.
It cleans well and takes ages to get saturated with flux, unlike IPA.

but it's not a cheap option

|O  :palm: Geez, some people really need their hands to be held all the time.  It is simple: you go online to your favorite electronics dealer and order a bottle / can which says 'flux remover' after reading what kind of flux types the flux remover can remove.

Which isn’t a “flux remover” product. It’s a single solvent. You can use it to clean flux, but “flux remover” as a phrase means “product made specifically for removing flux”.
