| Identify Resistor Type and Wattage |

Hi, I have the below resistor on a working power supply where I measured it 120Kohm and I would like to replace it for preventing reasons (the colors on the image don't show very good but they match with the measured 120Kohm value). I believe it is a metal film resistor but what watt do you believe is? The voltage difference across the resistor is 293V and the current 2.4mA P=V*I293V*0.0024A~0.7W. What watt do you suggest to choose... for my designs always I choose the rating wattage to be the double from the working watt? Is this the startup resistor that powers the main PWM controller IC from the rectified mains? If so, then your replacement resistor is fine, although probably overkill for this application. |
