Identify smd part. Fuse or Ferrite?
« on: October 02, 2015, 02:00:25 am »
Anyone have an idea what this kind of part this is or a suitable replacement?  It has no markings, center pads are connected to gnd.  Pads on the ends are basically input to an ADC circuit.  Normal signals would be DC to <15hz, no more than maybe 20-30vdc <30ma on the pictured one.  Smaller ones are downstream of TRIACs switching 24vac @ 0.5A.  In the silk screen these are all identified as Fx, so guessing its a fuse or ferrite.  If the pictured on the ADC circuits sees 24vac, it pretty well removes itself from the board, saving the rest of the circuit.  On the TRIAC outputs, the TRIAC will fail before they suffer any damage.

I have a few I can experiment with to try and identify the specs, just hoping someone can narrow it down by looking at it.

It doesn't look like a smd fuse, they don't have solder around the middle like that.
The magic words are "chip capacitor type EMI filter" and "LC combined EMI filter". It may also be a Pi or "X2Y" filter.

That would make sense.  They are the first component the external wiring ties to on both the input and output circuits on this board.
