Identifying a crimp pin

Hi again all!

I've found that my car has the inside wiring and light for a washer bottle fluid sensor, and want to go about adding the actual sensor. I've found that the wiring hits a connector in the interior, but the connector on the engine bay harness doesn't have the pin or wire.

What type of crimp pin and (if necessary) tool would I be looking at to plug my own cable into that?

As I'm from the US, I'm afraid I won't be much help in identifying the terminals, but would suggest that it might help someone closer to you and more knowledgeable regarding the connectors used in cars there if you post the year, make and model of the vehicle in question.

With that info, hopefully someone can help to identify the part.  Be forewarned that the terminals may not be readily available, as car makers (at least here) tend to use a lot of specialized connectors made just for them, rather than normal 'commercial' stuff commonly available from electronics vendors.  GM, for instance uses a lot of 'weatherpack' connectors.

Well derp, that would have made sense.

It's a 2006 Mazda 3 - although chances are the euro fords also use the same pins - the Focus of the same era shares a lot of parts.

if you can, take out 1 pin and measure the total length, is it 21mm or longer?

I might be inclined to go to a wrecker and see if you could poach one, that way it would have a pigtail to solder or connect to.
I'm not up on late model vehicles but back in the day most plug pins pop out with a scriber or seal pick in the right place.

I'll have a squiz when I get home, is there a sure fire way to pop them out? Say poke a pin in on the plug sise and push it out? Regardless I'll try getting one out.

I've considered going to a wrecker but last time I went looking around for a sensor there was only one in the industrial area that even had a Mazda 3. Luckily they had the sensor... Anyway I want to grab a spare pare of another set of connectors so it wouldn't be the worst idea.

I popped out a nearby one that isn't used and unfortunately I didn't have the forethought to bring a ruler.



Since a USB plug is apparently 12mm wide (this was harder to ascertain that you would think) I'd imagine the total length is 21mm or close enough.

Armadillo's pic looks very compatible.
