Garmin Data Card Socket
« on: September 19, 2018, 04:06:58 pm »
Hi Guys,
This is with regard to an older Garmin StreetPilot III GPS I’d like to get working.
It doesn’t recognise it’s data card unless I apply some force from the end of the data card (more like a cartridge).

Socket:

Data Card:

The card itself goes fine in another unit without having to push it in constantly.
There are a couple of screws that would look to provide some strain relief for the header connection from the socket to the PCB.

I’m up for guesses about this one. I haven’t opened the unit yet. This card and socket is the same, but from a scrapped identical unit.
If it’s dry joints, it would have to be on the PCB female header.

They seem to be 0.1" or 2.54 mm   spacing dual row connector ???  very common

Measure the center of the pins to be sure .. you could substitute them with an 90 degree connector
