Identifying LEDs on this swimming pool light
« on: September 26, 2023, 06:06:48 pm »
One of my Pentair MicroBrite pool lights has failed LEDs and drivers.  I'm not sure how best to go about identifying the LEDs.  They are roughly 3mm square and are very bright.  Does anyone by chance recognize these or can suggest how I figure out what they are?

Thanks

Anthony

Just search ali for led -- https://aliexpress.ru/item/1005004835997844.html

You first need to identify voltage, use some needle nose multimeter probes with your power supply, give it 3 volts, if not working then 5 volts, etc.. Buy proper voltage, high power.

I can't get any connection with probes, plus it's impossible to see when the LEDs light up, they are so bright!

Assume they are 3.5 volts then. You can fix them right now without ordering anything. Use any old none light diode instead of your burned light diodes and get the circuit working. Though, you should identify which iodes are burned, either with microscope or needle nose probes and PSU.

Depending on the input voltage each "LED" could have 1, 2, 3 ... LEDs in series.
It could be this chip: https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1904411.pdf

Yes, that's the driver.  I need to order a few, since at least one appears to be bad.  Each driver drives 3 LEDs.   I also need to figure out the type / value of the diode with the CA marking.  3 of them show 0.14v when tested with a meter, the 4th is open.  Unfortunately the 1362 datasheet doesn't make any mention on values for that!
