ZD915 Desolderingstation - No suction in gun
« on: July 08, 2019, 07:58:25 am »
Hi.
I bought a a zd915 desolderingstation a couple of months back and it have been working great up until a few weeks ago when the gun suddenly stopped suck up the solder.
I can hear the pump from inside the unit loud and clear like it allways have sounded like and the gun still melts the solder.

Do anyone have any experience with this problem and possible suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

From what you have described it could be a broken rubber diaphragm on the pump as mentioned in the thread linked below, you will need to open the unit up and have a look around inside for any obvious failures.

Start with the gun first and check that it's not simply blocked up with slag, blockages are common and frequently occur on these units. You could also disconnect the vacuum hose from the front of the unit and check for any suction before taking the unit apart, also check that the vacuum hose is intact and hasn't come adrift from somewhere.

Maybe the nozzle is blocked. Have you tried running the cleaning rods through it when the tip is hot?
Sparks and Smoke means i'm nearly there!

I found the problem.
At the connection point of the gun hose an unit there are a rubber washer, it had a small crack and didnt seal properly.
I found a replacement at the local hardware store and now it works.

Thanks for taking your time and pointed me in the right direction. :)
