input jacks on DC load?
« on: August 27, 2019, 02:28:58 pm »
I have managed to break one of the connectors on my BK Precision 8500 DC load  :palm:  |O.
It is still usable but I would like to replace it.

I cannot seem to find the proper replacement. Can anybody point me to the right part perhaps on digikey or anywhere else?

thanks

Acceptable quality for the price...
more than 30A I never use BANANAS binding posts.
instead I go ANDERSON power poles

yeah, I found many of these but (1) they are all banana and I don't want banana plug. the original connectors on BK 8500 are two bulky bolts and no banana plug (see Dave teardown video or IT8512 teardown on eevblog) (2) their size dont seem to fit BK 8500. They seem too short and a bit too thin.

You might  try to contact B&K to see if they will sell you service parts.

It helps a lot if you have an user's manual with an exploded mechanical view and/or BOM which lists B&K's part numbers.

Just in case they don't  sell such parts per si...

there are a plethora of videos on youtube from HAM folks
adapting ANDERSON in several ways and power ranges.

A  hack inside your panel is usually good enough..
but the minor finishing is always tricky.

Once installed on the panels ANDERSON is the thing:
"INSTALL AND FORGET..."   almost any power range
