Intel NUC NUC10i5FNH wont talk to DVI-D display

I need to connect a second monitor to my NUC NUC10i5FNH.

It's a Samsung Syncmaster 204Ts and it works fine with my old Dell Precision M6400 when I connect the monitor DVI input to the Dell DP port via a DP/HDMI convertor widget (the Dell doesnt have HDMI).

When I connect the monitor to the NUC using a DVI-I to HDMI cable nothing is seen. I have tried a DVD-I single link cable and a DVD-I dual link cable, but no show.  Any tips or pointers would be great.  So far the NUC has been a doddle to set up with Ubuntu 22.04.1 !
