I spent a week to restore a very dodgy Avometer mark 8. Even the coil movement needed repair- open circuit fault. At the end, Oh boy, was I proud of my handiwork. Calibration spot on, eh? Balancing the movement? Fabulous.
I was about to put it away in my DMM cabinet. It was sitting on a tall metal work table. And I moved away reluctantly from it, to answer the SWMBO who had appeared at the door---
Only, I was still clutching the probe leads attached to the Avo. It landed on the vitreous ceramic floor in what some call a dull, and others a sickening, thud.
The floor tile was not at all damaged.
I have another Avo too.
