Is this triggering the short circuit protection?
« on: January 25, 2021, 10:44:00 pm »
My PC suddenly shut down during moderate gaming, and can't boot up if the VGA cables are plugged in, after examining the graphics card I found no visual damage, only found these joints are suspicious, these joints are behind VRMs.
I am a totally noob to electronic circuit, just curiosity.

Gaming computer shutdown if Vga cable ??? plugin. Cable not vga card???.
1.remove display card.
2.boot computer
3.able to enter OS
4.Display card problem. :phew:

You can resolder bad pin to see if computer able to boot.  If no boot still, display card problem. Something maybe shorted or BGA reballing needed most of the time.

Besides motherboard Mosfets, coil & caps surrounding Cpu socket get very hot during gaming. If working in this condition for a long time, motherboard  voltage supply to core and Cpu will break.

Playing game makes GPU and CPU very hot.  Good ventilation and tower cooler or water cooling are needed.  Which game you are playing is also important.  My game needs 4 cores to work  fully.

PC can boot with card plugged in, with cables it refuses.
Didn't bother with the soldering, have already RMAed it.
