Where do the Otari open reel tape deck folks hang out?
« on: October 20, 2020, 06:14:21 pm »
Is there a forum where Otari knowledge resides?

I've got a broken (and huge) MTR-10 2 track mastering machine.  Would love to kick around the symptoms I'm seeing.  I don't see one of these very often and would welcome outside expertise.

Thanks!

Try gearslutz.com in the Geekslutz subforum.

Also tapeheads.net, although it's more consumer focused.

I think there used to be a Yahoo Group, but Yahoo Groups is now gone.

Be prepared to describe exactly which version you have (pop the top and read the ID tag inside).

What are your problems?

What are your problems?

The machine powers on; power supply seems OK.  It "looks alive" (displays make sense, capstan rotates when tape loaded) but the CPU card never lights the front panel RUN green LED and it never enters play mode.  No response to transport buttons.

I'll ask over at gearslutz, thank you.
