That's 1.7W. I wouldn't be surprised by that. Sorry, I have no ideas other than to check any diodes in the key matrix.

Try playing it from another keyboard via MIDI. Also check that MIDI local hasn’t been turned off which would keep the instrument from responding to its own keyboard. Then try and play another MIDI keyboard or module from the Kawai. The result of these tests will tell you a lot.

Page 30 of the owners manual explains how to set MIDI local on and off. Worth checking that it is on.
