Keithley 2001 repair and price for non working
« on: January 15, 2022, 04:20:49 pm »
I see there is an extensive guide for the 2001.

Are the usually repairable by someone with good troubleshooting skills, or are there too many unobtainable parts?

What is a fair price for a non working unit that is cosmetically fair to good?

Thanks J

Hi Jester, to answer your question, I am presently working on a damaged 2001. I bought it for about 250, as "Parts or Repair) based on photos that showed a decent display and signs that the Digital section was alive. I have a thread on this Forum describing my adventures so far, I am finding it pretty challenging, and I have years of experience with test equipment, but am mostly self taught. As you say, other Forum members have done an excellent job explaining and documenting how the various sections work, and there are several threads presenting repair cases that are good informational readings. At least there are a pretty good set of manuals (thanks to the US Govt buying these meters). Search out TiN's thread, from there you can explore what's available. As far as parts, as I say, mine has a working digital board so I cant speakn to that aspect, but the analog bboard has pretty common parts, although many are factory selected. There are some to-92 JFETs that are kind of hard to find. Good luck with the one you have your eye on, I think that theyt are worth some effort to repair, all in all.
