Hi all,
recently I wanted to fix a Keithley 7001 with a broken display. I called Keithley to order a replacement display.
They had to look up the availabilty and the price. One day later they came up with the information that the display DD-52 is not available as single part. Instead they offered me a replacement board for about 500€ :scared: What the heck happened?
I read about so many restore projects where the displays were about $65 and easy to get. So I thought I just could buy a new one ... nope!
Does anyone know more about this?

Just order one not to long ago and received it, unless they sold out and stop carry it now? Did you call 1-800 552-1115

I called the german number as they always put you towards a local service center.
May I ask what your display did cost?
-
As I remember its the same display as the 6517/2001/2002 wich costs about 420 euros excluding VAT. Yeah, its frigging expensive, nobody at Keithley could tell me why they don't just sell the VFD module itself. The 2000/2700 VFD modules only where about 60 euro's.
Best way for a budget repair is looking for an beat up 7001 or equiv. with an good VFD. Although they seem to be far more cheaper in the US, instead of the EU, mostly because of the shipping :palm:

I tried to order one in Germany, too, and it is not possible anymore. They said that the technicians don't want to exchange it anymore as this display has quite a lot of pins. The display for the Keithley 2000/2015 is still available (it has less pins).

They could at least give us a choice. I would recon this VFD alone should cost about 80/90 euros. That means you pay about 340 - 400 euro extra for the PCB (which you obviously already have). I don't even get to solder the thing myself, where's the fun in that? It should be cheaper than the VFD alone, cause it has no soldering fun involved :-DD

I was trying to get one for a 2015 thd meter, keithley were no help for me here in Australia however people in America had no issues getting just the display. There's a thread on here about it but I'm not sure how to ljnk it in as I'm on my phone.

I have replaced multiple VFD's on 2000 and 2700's. It's a simple procedure, only lining the new pins out before placing takes a few minutes.

There are a few Keithley DD-52 VFD displays up on eBay right now 9/26/17 for what looks like a reasonable price ($75). These don't seem to show up very often.

Some of the used 7001 units go to people looking for a display for a 2001 / 2002 meter.
