Kenwood TS-430S problem
« on: June 17, 2024, 03:34:12 pm »
I bought a Kenwood TS-430S, it has one problem. When powering up the display is totally blank and no receive. If i reset the cpu by holding in the A=B button and then power unit on and release A=B button, the radio works fine. I have to do this every time i want to use radio. Has anyone had this problem and if so what is solution? Thanks N2TCG

Which suggests the processor and associated hardware is fine but something is stopping it from completing its initialisation. Going for the low-hanging fruit first - does it need a new battery?

Does kind of sound like the non-volatile memory battery is dead. I am far more familiar with the 440 model who's biggest problem is PLL unlock due to aging plyobond glue in the PLL section. I think 430's may have the same problem.
