Koolertron Juntek Junctek 60MHz-a RF noise issue
« on: January 20, 2023, 04:49:00 am »
I just wanted to share an issue I had with this product. I wanted to use this as a SSB and AM generator for HF.  With the front outputs on or off, the unit will generate RF noise on the set frequency.  This is very noticeable if you set it to 27.384MHz with a nearby radio on that channel.  Even with nothing connected to the signal generator, its geting out there.

Long story short, there is a chip in the back by the TTL socket that generates a terrible square wave full of phase noise for that unmentioned sync out port they don't talk about in the book.  I don't know what that chip is because everything was laser etched off, but I did find that lifting the Vcc pin on that chip makes the noise go away and the front stuff will still function normally.
