KSGER SMD Rework station ERROR
(1/2) > >>
locutus:
I purchased a KSGER SMD hot air rework station from Banggood, unfortunately, the assembled version wasn't in stock after ordering so I ordered the DIY version. How hard could it be to assemble? Well with some documentation it should have been easy but none was provided. Youtube helped me to identify the wiring of the hot air handle but the display is just throwing error on the screen. I can control the fan speed but the heating will not go on. There is no power to the POUT of the hot air handle. When I press the push button in the back the station will stated POWER DOWN but the fan keeps on running.

Does anyone have any ideas where to go from here?

The RED LED turns off when I take the handle out of the holder. The display will then show ! instead of a thermometer next to the temperature. The temp also reads differently

You have to ask the seller for documentation (URL). I don't know much about this KSGER hot air rework station, but I would suspect the thermocouple temperature is appearing high or at full-scale and red LED D5 should not be lit up, check the wiring to the handle - it connects to the thermocouple and doesn't indicate the cradle switch.
Connector COUT has thermocouple, one or two switches (cradle reed switch and something else on other models) and GND.
The handle wiring might be:
BRN - Heater
ORG - Heater
GRN - PE GND heater collar
BLK - Fan DC (-)
BLUE - Fan DC (+)
RED - Thermocouple (+)
YEL - SIGNAL GND (for TC, reed switch)
WHT - Cradle reed switch(s)

Thank you! This confirms my own measurements, unfortunately I still have the error on screen. Banggood has not sent me any information. I created a video to demonstrate the issue for them. Hopefully they can support me but I'm not sure they'll be able to.

The red LED should not be lit, so either the thermocouple wiring is wrong, or the op-amp is bad.
"Cold END" should be set to CPU not NTC because you don't have the CJC NTC.

So I found this and the thermistor is included, it is however totally unclear from where to where it connects. I think left is coming from the reed switch and right is ground. I tried many combinations but it doesn't fix the ERROR on screen. Also no battery was included, could that cause the ERROR message?

Still, I regret buying this now knowing it would be missing any form of instruction. I created a ticket asking for either a refund or a replacement.
